Sapiens, a Brief History of Humankind - Yuval Noah Harari Can I say, this was the only lengthy text that I willingly bought and willingly completed reading? Hell yes, that's true! I heard about the book via a Nikhil Kamat podcast with the author himself, and got a copy for myself. The subject matter in the book is sequenced in a thoughtful manner, following the order of evolutionary changes in the history of humankind, parallel to that of the planet itself. The book has about 4 parts: the Cognitive Revolution, the Agricultural Revolution, the Unification of Humankind, and finally, the Scientific Revolution, spanning information across 20 chapters spread across all the 4 parts. There's a timeline of history for reference initiallly, as well as a section of notes in the end of the book, which I pretty much didn't touch. The Forty Rules of Love - Elif Shafak There was a certain expectation when I picked up the book, but it turned out to address something else, something that's not easily comprehensible when a random person reads it. There are multiple aspects of love and life, both, but this book concentrates on the basic, yet the most difficult attribute among them. The story moves from the present (2008) to past (13th century, following 1242), from Northampton to places in the Middle East Asia. There's a novel within a novel, a 'Sweet Blasphemy' within 'The Forty Rules of Love', a Shams of Tabriz within an Aziz Z. Zahara, so much depth! Each slice (you can relate with chapters) begins with the letter 'B', maybe relating to 'blasphemy'?, I wonder. Ugly Love - Colleen Hoover There was a time where I had just read It Ends With Us and It Starts With Us  by Colleen Hoover and I was on a spree to collect more books written by her, that's when I bought this one and Verity and November 9 and  Reminders of Him.  So I began reading this book and there was a good catch of the storyline initially, I got accustomed to the narration and went on. Later came the spice in the book with a weird sort of arrangement between Tate and Miles, but I really did hate the stubborn behavior expressed by Miles and Tate's reluctance to accept the truth and move on. But, Cap provided the final reality check for both of them, especially in case with Miles, and in fact, it wouldn't be wrong to say that he was the ultimate guide for the dumb minds of the protagonists!  Sometimes it's foolish to hold on to a stupid belief and stop living your life as you wish, it's indeed baseless. Rudra Nandini - M Lovely A tale of love that sounds both 'modern' and 'from history', narrated for about 550+ pages.  The story features Rudra and Nandini from neighboring rival states. What begins as a mere infatuation between the two, turns into longing, and finally into an inseparable yearning for each other. The plot, the situations that arise appear fictional and not so lively though.  Reading through the whole book felt like an adventure, coming across certain lines that made me stare at them in awe a little too long, others that made me aghast with a question, "He did what?", and there were a few that couldn't just be read without a blush! Man's Search for Meaning - Victore E. Frankl What keeps a human from surrendering despite the atrocities to which she/he is subjected to? The answers will be different for every individual, that's exactly what the book tries to convey. Not just that, the book also urges the reader to keep moving ahead and achieve that one goal which prevented her/him from fading away. Being written by a German Holocaust surviver and Neurology & Psychiatry professor, the book indeed is real world relevant. It's divided into two parts, first part being the narration of Frankl's experience at the concentration camps, the daily sufferings, the mental and physical tortures, the plight of the companions and finally, the will to imagine the world beyond the camps and the HOPE that kept him upright when the surrounding was utterly demotivating. Best Love Letters of All Time A collection of about 68 letters written by a soul to his or her beloved mostly, while there are exceptions like Bernard Shaw's wife writing to his muse to persuade her otherwise! I especially loved the one written by Edgar Allan Poe to his beloved Sarah Helen Whitman, even though their story didn't have a happy ending. The detailing was exquisite, he wrote a really lengthy letter, expressing his heart out! I've completed yet another CLASSIC by FingerPrint publications... . . . . . . . . Read for life!
